UNICO National Launches INSIEME High School Fall Congress

UNICO National, the largest Italian American service organization in the United States, is set to launch the inaugural INSIEME High School Fall Congress on September 23, 2026. The event, which will take place at the County College of Morris in Randolph, New Jersey, aims to expand Italian language education and leadership opportunities for high school students across the country.

The congress will bring together key stakeholders including school administrators, Italian language educators, students, Italian diplomatic representatives, and leaders from the Italian American community. The primary goal is to discuss strategies for enhancing Italian language programs, increasing student engagement, and fostering stronger partnerships between schools, universities, community organizations, and Italian institutions.

Brian Guarco, President of UNICO National, emphasized the significance of the INSIEME Program, stating, "INSIEME represents a bold vision for the future of Italian language education in America. By connecting educators, students, families, and community leaders, we are creating opportunities that extend beyond the classroom and inspire the next generation to embrace the Italian language, cultural heritage, and the values of leadership and service."

The INSIEME Program, developed in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in Washington, D.C., and the John D. Calandra Italian American Institute, combines classroom learning with mentorship, community service, cultural engagement, and leadership opportunities for students. The program's framework is designed to align with school curricula and provide students with a comprehensive understanding of Italian language and culture.

At the Fall Congress, administrators will be introduced to grant opportunities that support Italian language programs, receive information on professional development resources for educators, and learn about the INSIEME program framework. The event will also establish a regional network of schools committed to expanding Italian studies and highlight opportunities for student leadership development, mentorship, community service, and engagement with accomplished Italian American professionals.
