BOSTON, Oct. 06, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Tyton Partners, a strategy consulting and investment banking firm focused on the education sector, has released its latest report, "Driving Toward a Degree 2026." The study highlights the dual pressures facing higher education institutions: the need to prove the return on investment of a degree and the challenge of managing flat budgets with record-high advising caseloads.

According to the report, career readiness is identified as the most significant link between a college education and its perceived value. However, institutions are not fully leveraging high-impact practices such as real-world project-based learning and guaranteed internships. Only 7% of institutions offer guaranteed internships, and just 5% have a coordinated, centrally organized approach to employer partnerships. This lack of central strategy makes it difficult to scale high-impact programs, leaving faculty and students under-resourced.

The squeeze on academic advisors is significant, with high caseloads being the top barrier to better academic advising for six consecutive years. About one in five academic advisors now use AI daily, and they are not the early adopters most convinced by the technology. Instead, they are the advisors carrying the heaviest caseloads. The report also notes a preference for a blended human and automation/AI model, which has increased by 10 percentage points from 2025.

The full report, which draws on responses from more than 1,200 administrators, advisors, and frontline support staff at 750+ U.S. colleges and universities, offers calls to action for administrators, advisors, and solution providers. These include moving employer partnerships to an institution-wide model, broadening how workforce outcomes are measured, right-sizing caseloads before purchasing new tools, funding data quality and AI policy as preconditions rather than afterthoughts, and building AI tools for the blended model that practitioners are converging on.

Tyton Partners aims to help institutions navigate the complexities of the education sector, leveraging a deep foundation of transactional and advisory experience and an unparalleled level of global relationships. The firm's services range from mergers and acquisitions and capital markets access to strategy development, helping companies, organizations, and investors achieve their aspirations and catalyze innovation in the sector.
