Tusayan Remains Open as Grand Canyon Faces Flooding

TUSAYAN, Ariz., Aug. 31, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- The Town of Tusayan, located near the Grand Canyon National Park, has issued a statement assuring visitors and residents that the town remains fully operational and unaffected by recent flooding that has impacted the park. The flooding, which has caused significant damage to infrastructure within the park, has led to the implementation of stage 4 water restrictions and the suspension of overnight accommodations.

According to the statement, Grand Canyon National Park South Rim, while still open for day use and visits, has implemented water conservation measures. Food and beverage services, the Grand Canyon Clinic, Post Office, public restrooms, and essential health and safety services remain operational. The park is currently assessing the damage to the Transcanyon Waterline, a critical infrastructure that has been out of service.

Despite the challenges faced by the park, the Town of Tusayan has not sustained any damage from the flooding and continues to operate normally. Local lodging properties, restaurants, shops, attractions, and visitor services remain open and available to travelers. Overnight accommodations in Tusayan, situated one mile from the South Entrance to the Grand Canyon National Park, are unaffected, allowing visitors to enjoy the full range of amenities and services the town has to offer.
