The State Group Acquires MelKay Expanding MEP Services

The State Group, a leading North American multi-trade industrial and specialty services contractor, has acquired MelKay, a prominent Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) contractor in Evansville, Indiana. This strategic move marks a significant expansion for The State Group, which now gains access to a robust workforce of over 400 union tradesmen and a strong customer base spanning southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and western Kentucky.

Founded by Scott Hartig’s grandfather in 1951, MelKay has been a cornerstone of the local community for generations. The company has established a reputation for delivering high-quality MEP solutions to blue-chip clients such as Berry Global, Deaconess Health, Sabic, and Toyota.
