This partnership between Keepsake and Peyo Company marks a significant milestone for fans of the blue-smurfed inhabitants of Smurf Village.
Created by legendary Belgian artist Peyo (Pierre Culliford) in 1958, The Smurfs first appeared in the comic adventure "The Smurfs and the Magic Flute." The characters quickly gained popularity, evolving into a global phenomenon that has spanned comics, television, movies, toys, and collectibles. The 1981 introduction of the classic animated television series further cemented the Smurfs' status as a cultural icon, introducing millions of new fans to the likes of Papa Smurf, Smurfette, and Gargamel.
Keepsake, a company known for creating premium trading cards and collectibles, is now partnering with Peyo Company to launch a new The Smurfs collectible trading card program. The collaboration aims to bring the rich history and vibrant personalities of the Smurfs to a new generation of collectors.
The debut collection, titled "The Smurfs Keepsake Premiere Edition," will feature numbered parallels, colorful short-print inserts, and ultra-rare 1-of-1 cards. These cards will be inspired by the personalities, humor, and unmistakable visual world created by Peyo. Randomly inserted throughout the collection will be original hand-drawn 1-of-1 sketch cards, alongside rare signature cards and memorabilia/relic cards representing some of the biggest hits in the collection.
Fans can expect to collect cards celebrating everyone from Papa Smurf and Smurfette to Brainy, Hefty, Clumsy, and Jokey, as well as Gargamel and Azrael. The collection will be available in a Premiere configuration, with 2 packs per box and 6 cards per pack. Each box will contain at least two numbered cards, memorabilia/relic cards, original sketch cards, or signature cards.
