NEW YORK, NY, October 8, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- TABLE FOR TWO USA Celebrates World Food Day 2026 with #OnigiriAction, Aims to Provide One Million Meals to Children in Need

TABLE FOR TWO USA (TFT) is set to celebrate World Food Day 2026 with its 12th Annual ONIGIRI ACTION, a campaign aimed at providing one million school meals to children in need. The campaign will run from October 8 to November 17, 2026, and is expected to be a significant step in addressing the growing concern over the achievement of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of Zero Hunger.

The campaign, which commemorates World Food Day, will see TFT collaborate with partner organizations to enhance school meals in socioeconomically disadvantaged neighborhoods across the United States. By adding fresh vegetables and fruits to school lunches, TFT aims to improve the nutritional value of meals provided to children in need. Additionally, TFT will provide school meals to children in East Africa, further expanding the reach of the initiative.

The ONIGIRI ACTION campaign is a continuation of TFT’s mission to address hunger and health issues caused by unhealthy eating habits. Since its launch in 2015, the campaign has supported over twelve million school meals. TFT has received two prestigious awards from the Japanese government, one related to SDGs and the other for health and culture, highlighting the organization’s commitment to sustainable development and cultural preservation.

The campaign’s success is contingent on the participation of the public. Every rice ball-related post to the campaign website or social media with the hashtag #OnigiriAction will provide five school meals to children in need. TFT has partnered with several organizations, including J.C.C. Fund/Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of New York, JFC International/Nishiki, JCAW, Zojirushi America, San-J, ITOCHU International & ITOCHU Europe, SMBC Americas Foundation, Misuzu Corporation, MUFG Bank, Mishima Foods U.S.A., Kewpie Americas, and Six Tree Foundation, to ensure the campaign’s success.

To celebrate the campaign, TFT will host numerous virtual and in-person events, including the Onigiri Diplomacy Project, where Japanese consulates will post photos with #OnigiriAction, display the campaign poster and props, and in some cases, organize an interactive onigiri experience or event. Additionally, there will be Intercollege Onigiri Action, a fun and collaborative initiative on Instagram for college students in the U.S. The group with the most onigiri posts will win, and special awards will also be given for the most creative reel and best group photo. There will also be a special Nationwide Shared Table hybrid cooking event supported by the Japan Foundation New York, where participants nationwide will learn how to make creative and delicious onigiri.
