COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Oct. 19, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Tech7, a leading innovator in the US defense and national security sector, has been awarded a Direct to Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract by the Space Development Agency (SDA) through SpaceWERX. This contract will enable the company to develop the Proliferated LEO Agile Testbed Environment (PLATE), a critical tool for the U.S. Space Force's evolving space strategy.

The award reflects the growing importance of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) constellations in modern warfare, where hundreds of distributed sensors will generate continuous, low-latency data streams. These data streams must be processed and acted upon in near real time, a challenge that current mission-specific data pipelines are not equipped to handle. PLATE aims to address this gap by providing a modular, zero-trust, and continuously scalable environment for testing and demonstrating applications within the SDA's Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA).

Juan Echeverry, President and CEO of Tech7, expressed confidence in the company's ability to deliver on this project.

Tech7's approach to PLATE builds on its existing on-site support to the SSC Missile Warning enterprise, including the OPIR Tools, Applications and Processing (TAP) Lab and SSC OPIR Modeling and Simulation Analysis Center (OMAC). This foundation allows the team to leverage mature, high-technology applications rather than starting from scratch.

SpaceWERX, the innovation arm of the U.S. Space Force and a division of AFWERX, has been instrumental in facilitating this partnership. In fiscal year 2025, SpaceWERX awarded more than 300 contracts totaling $510 million, underscoring its commitment to accelerating commercial space technologies for the Space Force. This partnership is part of a broader effort to integrate commercial capabilities into the military's space operations, enhancing the speed and efficiency of technological adoption.

Tech7's commitment to delivering innovative solutions that empower government agencies to achieve their objectives remains unwavering. This award marks another significant milestone in the company's journey and reinforces its position as a rapidly growing leader in the defense and national security community. As Tech7 begins execution on PLATE, the company is dedicated to leveraging its expertise to support the U.S. Space Force's evolving needs in the LEO domain.
