Target Faces Protests Over ICE Use of Parking Lots in Black and Brown Communities

NEW YORK, Oct. 12, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- On Tuesday, October 13, at 10:00 AM ET, elected officials, faith leaders, and community organizers are set to gather outside a Bronx Target store to demand that the retail giant take immediate action to prevent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from using its parking lots as staging areas for enforcement operations. The action follows reports of ICE agents using Target parking lots as staging grounds for activities, particularly in Black and Brown communities, which have fueled ongoing protests and calls for corporate responsibility.

The gathering, organized by Until Freedom, a coalition of community leaders, is part of a broader campaign to pressure Target to end its association with ICE and protect the communities it serves. The event comes in the wake of a disturbing ICE shooting incident in Marble Hill, which has heightened fears about aggressive immigration enforcement in residential and commercial spaces.

Elected officials and community leaders have been vocal in their demands. Tamika D. Mallory, co-founder of Until Freedom, criticized Target for its lack of public condemnation and its failure to address the crisis.

Murad Awawdeh, President and CEO of the New York Immigration Coalition, echoed the call for action, emphasizing that Target must immediately end ICE's use of its Marble Hill parking lot as a staging ground for the abduction of families.

NYC Public Advocate Jumaane D. Williams called for Target to publicly condemn ICE's aggressive enforcement tactics and work with property owners to prohibit such operations wherever legally permissible.

The event is part of a larger push by community organizers to pressure Target to take action. Organizers are preparing additional protests at Target stores across New York City and will continue to escalate public pressure until meaningful action is taken.
