Taiwanese and Indian firms expand strategic partnership in high-speed optical interconnect market
Taiwan-based Gemtek Technology and Indian electronics manufacturing giant Dixon Technologies (India) Limited have announced an expanded strategic partnership aimed at expanding their presence in the high-speed optical interconnect market in India and beyond. This collaboration, which builds upon an existing joint venture, integrates Gemtek’s expertise in optical communication and photonics with Dixon’s robust manufacturing, supply chain, and local market presence.
The partnership will focus on developing and producing advanced optical transceivers, bidirectional optical sub-assemblies (BOSA), and other high-speed optical interconnection solutions. By combining their respective strengths, the companies aim to create a scalable platform for the broadband, telecommunications, cloud, data center, and AI infrastructure markets in India and globally.
Gemtek’s expansion into high-speed optical interconnect solutions now spans from 1G to 1.6T, including optical transceivers, small form-factor pluggables (SFPs), and BOSA. Leveraging advanced photonics integration and state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities, Gemtek is driving its roadmap towards 800G and beyond, aligning with the growing demand for high-bandwidth, high-performance connectivity driven by AI, cloud, and data center infrastructures.
The partnership also aims to strengthen India’s local manufacturing capabilities and supply chain resilience. By integrating Gemtek’s technology and product development expertise with Dixon’s local manufacturing and supply chain capabilities, the joint venture will enable scalable production in India, complementing Gemtek’s global manufacturing footprint. This geographical diversification will enhance the company’s overall supply chain resilience.
Gemtek will showcase its latest optical interconnect solutions at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026, which will take place from October 7 to 10, 2026, in New Delhi. The company will exhibit a range of optical interconnection products, including optical transceivers, BOSA, and next-generation high-speed optical interconnection technologies, targeting applications in broadband, telecommunications, and AI-infrastructure sectors.
