MELBOURNE, FL, UNITED STATES, October 13, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- The Taiwan Coast Guard Administration (CGA) has signed a significant agreement to acquire MARTAC Devil Ray T24 unmanned surface vessels (USVs), marking one of the largest international purchases of U.S.-manufactured USVs to date. This acquisition underscores the growing global demand for advanced unmanned maritime capabilities and represents a strategic investment in Taiwan's coastal defense.

The deal was made possible through a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by MARTAC, the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST), and Confucian Co., Ltd. during the 2025 Taipei Aerospace & Defense Technology Exhibition (TADTE). Confucian, MARTAC’s local partner in Taiwan, and NCSIST, Taiwan’s state-owned defense research and development institution, have been key partners in advancing this initiative from a framework agreement to procurement.

The Devil Ray T24 USVs are designed to support a wide range of missions for coast guard and military organizations operating in complex maritime environments. Each USV is a 27.5-foot (8.4 m) high-performance vessel capable of burst speeds exceeding 50 knots. This speed and maneuverability make the T24 an ideal choice for various missions, including surveillance, patrol, and response operations.

According to MARTAC, the co-production model of the deal is projected to create workforce development opportunities in both the United States and Taiwan. A portion of the USVs will be manufactured at one of MARTAC’s strategic partner’s facility in Edgewater, Florida, while the remainder will be built by Confucian in Taiwan. This arrangement reflects the partnership’s commitment to strengthening Taiwan’s domestic industrial base while leveraging MARTAC’s proven design and manufacturing expertise.

Founded in 1973, Confucian Co., Ltd. provides services across the aerospace, military, national security, and law enforcement technology sectors in Taiwan. The company's capabilities include trading, software development, system integration, and manufacturing. Through this partnership, Confucian will play a crucial role in the local production and integration of the Devil Ray T24 USVs.

The co-production element of the deal is expected to foster supply chain integration and facilitate technology-sharing initiatives consistent with the terms of the original MOU. This partnership not only strengthens Taiwan's defense capabilities but also enhances the country's industrial capacity in the maritime domain.

The acquisition of the Devil Ray T24 USVs by the Taiwan Coast Guard Administration is a significant step in modernizing Taiwan's maritime defense and enhancing its operational readiness. This move aligns with the broader strategy of integrating advanced technologies to support national security and maritime domain awareness.
