T2 Metals Commences Drilling at Shanghai Silver-Gold Project

T2 Metals Corp. has commenced its first-ever surface diamond drilling program at the Shanghai Silver-Gold Project in central Yukon, Canada. The project, located in the Mayo Mining District within the Tombstone Gold Belt, marks a significant milestone in the company's exploration activities.
The Shanghai Silver-Gold Project is surrounded by other prolific mining areas, including the Keno Hill District and the AurMac Project. These areas share key geological characteristics with the Shanghai site, providing a robust starting point for the exploration program.
The initial drilling program will test multiple high-priority targets, including the Shanghai Silver Mine prospect, the Shanghai NE prospect, and the Bella prospect. These targets are believed to hold potential for two distinct styles of mineralization: high-grade vein deposits rich in silver, lead, and zinc, and a Reduced Intrusion-Related Gold System (RIRGS).
The Shanghai Silver Mine prospect is particularly noteworthy, as it is located in an area of past development. Historical records indicate that this area has shown promising mineralization, with underground sampling returning high-grade silver, lead, and zinc values. The Shanghai NE prospect aims to test the strike extension of the Shanghai Silver Mine to the northeast, where surface lineaments suggest a structural trend away from the mine.
The Bella prospect, located to the south, is defined by strong gold, silver, and pathfinder element anomalies in soil sampling. This area is associated with the projection of the regional Robert Service Thrust Fault, which is known to have played a significant role in the distribution of mineralization in the area.
T2 Metals has integrated historical work with recent geological mapping, soil and rock sampling, LiDAR, and airborne magnetic and radiometric surveys to refine drill targets. The company has also conducted a VLF-EM survey, which has defined a clear conductor/resistor corridor coincident with strong soil anomalies, providing high-priority structural targets.
Mark Saxon, President and CEO of T2 Metals, expressed excitement about the project, stating, "Getting a rig turning at a property that has never been drilled from surface is an exciting project milestone. From the first drill platform, we can see historic mines at Keno Hill and AurMac, which place us right in the heart of a proven, world-class district with significant discovery potential."
The project is fully permitted for drilling, road construction, and camp installation, with a Class 3 Permit in place. The company's 2026 exploration program, which began in June, has already provided valuable data that has been integrated with historical mining and mapping data to refine drill targets.
The Shanghai Silver-Gold Project is situated within the Tombstone Gold Belt, a core component of the broader Tintina Gold Province. This region is globally recognized for hosting prolific, intrusion-related mineral systems driven by mid-Cretaceous reduced felsic plutons, genetically associated with RIRGS.
The company's 2026 exploration program includes geological mapping, soil and rock sampling, LiDAR surveying, VLF-EM surveying, and a helicopter-borne aeromagnetic and radiometric survey covering approximately 31 square kilometers and 425 line-kilometers. These efforts have identified robust gold-in-soil geochemical anomalies, highlighting the substantial scale potential of the project.
The project's history dates back to the early 1960s, when renowned Yukon explorer Dr. Aaro E. Aho first discovered and staked the area. The Shanghai Silver Mine and surrounding ground remained dormant for several decades until Shawn Ryan staked the area in 2004. Ryan's systematic soil sampling methodology established the potential for mineralization beyond the historic workings and recognized the importance of regional thrust faults in controlling mineralization.
T2 Metals acquired the option to earn a 100% interest in the project from Ryan in September 2025, who has since joined the company's Advisory Board. The project's location and geological characteristics make it a prime candidate for significant mineral discoveries, potentially adding value to the company's portfolio.
