Sweet Briar College has launched SBCommitment 2.0, a significant expansion of its existing SBCommitment program designed to provide full-tuition access to Virginia women. This new initiative builds on the original SBCommitment program, which was launched in 2024, by broadening eligibility to include both incoming first-year and transfer students who meet the program requirements. The new program aims to ensure that talented women from Virginia have the opportunity to pursue a transformative education at Sweet Briar College, regardless of their financial circumstances.

Under SBCommitment 2.0, students who qualify will receive full tuition coverage if they meet all five eligibility requirements. These requirements include being a Virginia resident, being eligible for the Federal Pell Grant, having a family income of $85,000 or less, having a cumulative high school or college GPA of 3.25 or higher, and living on campus while participating in a Sweet Briar College meal plan.

The new program builds on the original SBCommitment, which provided full tuition coverage to qualifying students who were Virginia residents, eligible for the Federal Pell Grant, had a family income of $85,000 or less, had a cumulative high school or college GPA of 3.25 or higher, and lived on campus while participating in a Sweet Briar College meal plan. SBCommitment 2.0 expands eligibility to include both incoming first-year and transfer students who meet these requirements, ensuring that a wider range of talented women from Virginia have access to Sweet Briar College’s transformative education.

Under SBCommitment 2.0, students receive full tuition coverage through a combination of federal, state, and institutional resources. The program also provides students with access to an educational experience built around Sweet Briar’s distinctive philosophy: to learn by doing and to lead by living. Students can work alongside faculty, participate in research, complete internships, present at conferences, study abroad, lead organizations, and gain experience beyond the classroom. The program also includes leadership development woven throughout the undergraduate experience through the Women’s Leadership Core Curriculum, a ten-course pathway that prepares students to think critically, communicate effectively, solve complex problems, collaborate across disciplines, and lead with purpose.

SBCommitment 2.0 aims to ensure that these talented women have the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and gain real-world experience, preparing them to contribute to Virginia’s workforce and economy.

Students interested in SBCommitment 2.0 should apply for admission to Sweet Briar College and complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), listing Sweet Briar College using federal school code 003742.
