Suunto, a Finnish brand established in 1936, has unveiled its latest running watch, Suunto Run 2, designed for road runners and marathon training. The new watch, weighing 35 grams, is built to stay unobtrusive during long training sessions, providing key metrics and training insights.
The Suunto Run 2 features a 2,000-nit AMOLED display, three times brighter than its predecessor, ensuring that pace, heart rate, and distance remain legible in direct sunlight. With around 10 days of battery life and up to 24 hours of dual-band GNSS tracking, the watch caters to both daily training and long-distance runs.
At 12 channels, the wrist heart rate sensor has been redesigned for improved accuracy, especially during high-intensity intervals and race-day surges. Runners can pair the watch with the Suunto Smart Heart Rate Belt 2 for even more precise heart rate data. The new belt, with a six-axis IMU for running-form measurement, provides beat-to-beat R-R interval data and ECG-based detection to ensure consistent and accurate heart rate tracking.
The watch supports a wide range of running modes, including daily training, speed work, and racing, with additional tools like EnergySense and Marathon Time. EnergySense shows current effort against remaining capacity, helping runners decide whether to push harder or ease off. Marathon Time predicts a runner's finishing time based on their current pace, offering real-time insights during the run.
For those who explore new routes, the Suunto Run 2 offers free worldwide offline maps, allowing runners to plan and follow routes without internet connectivity. The watch also supports music and podcast storage, making it a versatile companion for various training scenarios.
With a recommended retail price of $349 for 4 GB and $399 for 64 GB, the Suunto Run 2 is set to launch globally from September 8, 2026, through direct-to-consumer channels and authorized retail partners. Available in colors such as All Black, Feather Gold, and Aloe Green, the watch is expected to meet the demands of runners from first-time marathoners to seasoned athletes.
The See the Run Ahead campaign, which includes US Olympic marathoner Clayton Young, aims to highlight the capabilities of Suunto Run 2. The launch emphasizes Suunto's commitment to providing innovative tools for outdoor adventurers and athletes, continuing the legacy of precision and reliability that has defined the brand for nearly a century.
