Sutton Launches Sutton Studio to Fill Gaps in Operations Software

Sutton, the ERP and operations platform formerly known as Digit, has launched a new tool called Sutton Studio. This tool allows shop-floor and operations staff to create custom tools on live production data without waiting for a development queue, addressing the common gap between identifying a requirement and having software that supports it.
Manufacturers and distributors often face challenges when their existing software cannot answer specific questions, such as bespoke quality checks or unusual batching methods. Traditionally, these gaps have been handled in one of several ways: changing the process to fit the software, paying for customization, waiting for the vendor to build the tool, or keeping the work in spreadsheets outside the system of record. Sutton Studio aims to bridge this gap by enabling operators to describe the tools they need and have them built directly on their live operational data within the existing system.
Sutton Studio sits alongside these functionalities without replacing any of them.
Early builds cited by the company include production-floor dashboards, delivery boards split by fulfillment source, supplier scorecards, receiving inspection forms, and yield trackers. Andrew Pedersen, an early user from Pac Basic, commented, "I type out my problem, summarize what I'd like to see, and everything is created for me. It's like an engineer building a custom app for you in a couple of minutes."
The approach of Sutton Studio is to adapt the software to the operation rather than the other way around. This is particularly important for operations that move physical inventory and schedule production, where reliability and control are key. Sutton's Studio ensures that changes to live data are governed reliably, with appropriate review, permissions, and audit trails.
