MIAMI BEACH, Fla., Oct. 07, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- The Steve Karro Scholarship for the Arts has announced the launch of its one-time $1,000 scholarship for undergraduate students pursuing higher education in the arts. The award, which will be announced on July 15, 2027, is open to students across the United States and reflects Rabbi Steve Karro's longstanding interest in supporting arts education and encouraging the next generation of creative professionals.
Established by businessman and arts advocate Rabbi Steve Karro, the scholarship aims to address the financial challenges associated with pursuing an education in the arts. These challenges include tuition, educational materials, equipment, studio expenses, and other academic costs.
Eligible applicants must be high school seniors, undergraduates, or art school students enrolled or accepted at an accredited U.S. college, university, or arts program. Pursuit of a degree or certificate in an artistic field, including visual arts, music, theater, dance, film, design, creative writing, or artistic and cultural traditions such as ancient Hebrew calligraphy, is required. Students pursuing or developing skills as future scribes in ancient Hebrew calligraphy are also encouraged to apply.
Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and U.S. citizenship or permanent residency. The scholarship is intended for students who demonstrate a meaningful interest in the arts and have a clear vision for how their creative work, artistic practice, or preservation of traditional forms such as ancient Hebrew calligraphy and scribal arts may contribute to their communities and the broader world.
Essays will be reviewed based on passion, clarity, originality, and creative vision. Rabbi Steve Karro personally reviews the essays submitted as part of the scholarship selection process.
Applications close on June 15, 2027, and students are encouraged to submit their applications before the deadline. Educators, counselors, arts organizations, and community groups may share the scholarship opportunity with qualifying students. The Steve Karro Scholarship for the Arts provides an opportunity for students to communicate their creative ambitions while considering the challenges that can stand between them and their educational goals.
