Steelcase, the global design and thought leader in the world of work, has appointed Irene Tasi as its new president, effective September 14, 2026. Tasi brings over 25 years of executive leadership experience, including roles in growth, portfolio development, commercial execution, and organizational change.
According to Jeff Lorenger, Chairman, President, and CEO of HNI Corporation, Tasi is an ideal candidate to lead Steelcase. "Irene brings a combination of commercial leadership, product innovation, operating discipline, and customer focus that makes her exceptionally well-suited to lead Steelcase," Lorenger said. "She has led businesses where design, innovation, product portfolios, and strong channel partnerships are critical to success."
Tasi's most recent position was at PPG Industries, where she served as chief growth officer and senior vice president of global industrial coatings. Prior to PPG, she spent over two decades at Masco Corporation, holding leadership roles in channel marketing, customer experience, and sales and general management. Tasi also served as the president and general manager of Kichler Lighting.
"I am honored to join Steelcase and excited to work with a company whose purpose, people, and design leadership have shaped the future of work for generations," Tasi said. "Steelcase has a rich, innovative history, with deep customer relationships, an extraordinary dealer community, and a strong portfolio of solutions that help people and organizations work better. I look forward to listening, learning, and partnering with teams around the world as we build on a strong foundation to create even more value for customers, dealers, members, and communities."
Tasi will be responsible for advancing Steelcase's focus on strengthening customer and dealer relationships, translating research and design leadership into commercial impact, and supporting teams to execute with focus and discipline. Her appointment comes at a time when Steelcase is building on its design leadership, dealer network, and customer-focused strategy.
"I am confident that Irene's experience and vision will help Steelcase continue to innovate and deliver value to our customers and partners," Lorenger added. "Her leadership will be crucial as we navigate the evolving landscape of work and continue to support organizations in creating more effective and sustainable workspaces."
Tasi's background in commercial and innovation leadership, along with her track record in driving growth and transformation, positions her well to lead Steelcase into the future. With her appointment, Steelcase is poised to maintain its status as a global design and thought leader in the world of work.
