On Thursday, September 10, 2026, Stark Future set a new lap record at the Autòdrom de Sitges-Terramar in Barcelona, Spain. The record-breaking lap was completed by Jonas Skovby, a celebrated Swedish Supermoto champion and freestyle rider, on a Stark VARG SM Sköll. Skovby lapped the 1923 banked oval in 41.888 seconds, shaving 0.712 seconds off the previous record set by Carlos Sainz in an Audi R8 LMS in 2012.
The Autòdrom de Sitges-Terramar, constructed in just 300 days in 1923, is one of the oldest purpose-built banked ovals still standing. It hosted the inaugural Spanish Grand Prix, where Albert Divo won at an average speed of 96.91 mph. The circuit was abandoned in the 1920s and has remained unused for over a century, only to be reactivated for this historic event.
The VARG SM Sköll, a numbered 500-unit limited edition, is a road-legal production motorcycle with no gearbox, no clutch, and no exhaust. It boasts 80 hp on the full ALPHA specification and delivers 914 Nm of torque at the rear wheel. The bike weighs 123.4 kg (272 lb) and was unveiled on September 16, 2026. Skovby's lap on this machine achieved an average speed of over 172 km/h (approximately 107 mph), making the ride a thrilling and technically challenging feat.
He emphasized the constant risk of being launched off the concrete wall or losing the front tire at such high speeds, leaving no time to react or correct any mistakes.
The project was a joint effort between Stark Future, Alpinestars, and DC Shoes, with the timing and chronograph services provided by CSI Timing and Chrono: TAG HEUER CP 540. The attempt was part of a larger initiative by Stark Future to accelerate the industry's shift toward sustainability, aligning with its mission to deliver uncompromising technology and performance in zero-emissions motorcycles.
The attempt was made possible after a year-long process with the circuit's owners and local authorities, securing the necessary permits. The hero film of the event will be released on September 20, 2026, at 15:00 CET across Stark Future, Jonas Skovby, Alpinestars, and DC Shoes channels.
The Stark VARG SM Sköll, with its unique single-speed drivetrain, demonstrated a significant advantage in this circuit, as the lack of shifts allowed the bike to maintain its speed without interruptions.
