NEW YORK, Sept. 1, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- S&P Global (NYSE: SPGI) has finalized the divestiture of its geoscience and petroleum engineering software portfolio to Schlumberger (SLB), a global technology leader driving energy innovation across more than 100 countries. According to a press release, the transaction ensures continued access to S&P Global Energy data through the tools that customers rely on daily.

"With this transaction complete, S&P Global Energy's upstream business will remain focused on delivering world-class data and insights to global energy markets," said Dave Ernsberger, President of S&P Global Energy. "Our strategic alliance with SLB means our customers can continue to access S&P Global Energy data through the tools they use every day, and the launch of Titan, our AI-powered upstream data platform, will set a new standard for how the industry discovers, analyzes, and acts on data."

The sale, originally announced in April 2026, will enable S&P Global Energy to concentrate on its core data and insights business. Financial details of the transaction remain undisclosed, and the divestiture is not expected to have a significant impact on S&P Global's or its Energy division's financial performance.

"By separating our upstream software portfolio, we can better focus on our core data and analytics business, which will continue to deliver essential intelligence to the global energy market," Ernsberger added.

The strategic alliance between S&P Global Energy and Schlumberger will ensure that customers can continue to benefit from comprehensive data and insights within their workflows. Schlumberger, a company with a century of experience in energy innovation, will now have access to S&P Global's leading proprietary data through its geoscience and petroleum engineering workflow tools.

"We are excited to partner with S&P Global Energy, leveraging their extensive data and expertise to drive innovation in the energy sector," said a Schlumberger spokesperson. "This alliance will enhance our ability to support our customers in making data-driven decisions and advancing their operations."

The move aligns with S&P Global's broader strategy to advance essential intelligence through trusted data, expertise, and technology. The company's comprehensive view of global energy and commodities markets enables customers to make superior decisions and create long-term, sustainable value.
