Southwest Gas Releases 2025 Sustainability Report Highlighting Safety and Environmental Goals

Southwest Gas Holdings, Inc. has released its 2025 Sustainability Report, detailing the company's progress in various areas over the past year. The report highlights improvements in safety, customer satisfaction, environmental stewardship, and community investment, emphasizing the company's commitment to sustainability in action.
The report notes that Southwest Gas has reduced its Total Recordable Incident Rate by 17% and the Days Away, Restricted or Transferred rate by 37% compared to the previous year. The company also achieved a record 79.2% response rate to emergency calls within 30 minutes. According to J.D. Power, Southwest Gas ranked No. 1 in customer satisfaction with residential natural gas service in the West for the sixth consecutive year.
In terms of technology and infrastructure, the company completed a major modernization project, enhancing its ability to monitor the natural gas system in real time. Southwest Gas also captured 3.37 million standard cubic feet of natural gas using vacuum and compression technology, avoiding an estimated 191 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions. The company met its goal of reducing emissions by 20% by 2025, achieving a 33.7% reduction from its fleet and building facilities compared to the 2015 baseline.
The report also highlights efforts to reduce excavation damages by 7.7% since 2021, which contributes to the safety and reliability of the company's natural gas system. Southwest Gas invested $2.5 million through the Southwest Gas Foundation in 362 nonprofit and charitable organizations, supporting communities across its service territory. Additionally, the company's employees contributed more than 4,500 volunteer hours to nonprofits and community initiatives, and pledged approximately $2.7 million through the FUEL for LIFE employee giving program.
Southwest Gas has also made significant strides in its Move2Zero program, doubling per-block greenhouse gas emissions offsets in Nevada for participating customers. Since 2022, the program has surpassed 200,000 therms in total program offsets.
