Skyworth Auto, a Chinese automotive manufacturer, made its debut at the IAA Transportation 2026 exhibition in Hannover, Germany, showcasing a range of electric and intelligent commercial vehicles. The company highlighted its latest advancements in electrification, autonomous driving, and intelligent commercial mobility.
The centerpiece of Skyworth Auto’s exhibition was the global premiere of the SKYWORTH Z9, an L4 autonomous pure-electric heavy truck. Designed for demanding commercial environments such as ports, steel mills, rail yards, and logistics corridors, the Z9 features a 400 kWh LFP battery and a 610 kW dual-motor output. Beyond its autonomous driving capabilities, the Z9 integrates with a vehicle-cloud system, enabling intelligent dispatch, route optimization, and multi-vehicle coordination. With up to 18 autonomous vehicles able to be managed by a single operator, the Z9 represents a significant step in the company’s vision for connected autonomous fleets.
Alongside the Z9, Skyworth Auto exhibited four additional models. The SKYWORTH G18 is an L4 autonomous pure-electric refuse compactor, designed for smart urban sanitation. This vehicle combines electric power, autonomous driving, and intelligent sanitation operations, making it suitable for municipal waste collection and transfer. The SKYWORTH Urban Elf Robobus, an L4 autonomous electric shuttle, is tailored for controlled environments and short-distance passenger mobility. With its compact dimensions and intelligent driving capabilities, it is ideal for parks, campuses, airports, scenic areas, and communities.
The SKYWORTH HONGTU V9 is a pure-electric light commercial van designed for urban logistics and last-mile delivery. Focused on efficiency, practicality, and flexible cargo transportation, this vehicle expands Skyworth Auto’s electric commercial vehicle offerings for European urban mobility. Completing the lineup, the SKYWORTH HONGTU X is an intelligent range-extended chassis cab platform, providing flexibility for different body configurations and operating scenarios.
Skyworth Auto has been developing its autonomous driving technology for the past eight years, with deployments across logistics, sanitation, passenger transportation, and other commercial scenarios. The company has delivered over 150,000 vehicles across 45+ countries and 100+ cities worldwide. With its first appearance at IAA Transportation, Skyworth Auto aims to strengthen its presence in the European commercial vehicle market and engage with customers, partners, and industry professionals.
Leon Liu, CTO of Skywell New Energy Vehicle Group, stated, "The biggest change is that intelligent technology is moving from demonstration to real-world application. For Skyworth Auto, this means we are evolving from a traditional commercial vehicle manufacturer into a technology-driven company that combines new energy vehicles, intelligent driving, and customized solutions."
Skyworth Auto’s comprehensive lineup of electric and intelligent commercial vehicles underscores its commitment to cleaner, smarter, and more efficient commercial mobility. The company’s debut at IAA Transportation 2026 marks a significant milestone in its journey towards becoming a leader in the global commercial vehicle market.
