Singapore to Host Judgement of Singapore Wine Tasting Event

Singapore is set to host a groundbreaking international blind tasting event, marking a significant milestone in the wine world. Fifty years after the historic Judgment of Paris revolutionized perceptions of wine, Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) will organize the Judgement of Singapore, a new global blind tasting event scheduled for 2 to 4 October 2026.
The event, part of Singapore Wine Week 2026, will bring together leading wine experts from 10 countries, including Masters of Wine (MW) and Master Sommeliers (MS), to assess 24 Chardonnays and Cabernet Sauvignons from renowned producers. The wines, primarily from the 2019 vintage, will be evaluated in a double-blind format, meaning the judges will not know the identities, origins, or reputations of the wines they are tasting.
"We are thrilled to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Judgment of Paris by bringing this event to Singapore," said Soo Hoo Khoon Peng, Founder of Impeccable APAC and Park90. "This reflects the global transformation in wine culture, where great wines are now accessible to a broader audience."
The Judgement of Singapore will not recreate the 1976 tasting but will instead explore how wine styles and winemaking have evolved over the past half-century. The event aims to reveal whether a wine’s origin can still be discerned when its label and producer are hidden.
The panel will be co-led by Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, former Editor-in-Chief of The Wine Advocate, and Ronan Sayburn MS, CEO of the Court of Master Sommeliers Europe. Together, they will oversee a 15-member judging panel that includes leading wine professionals from various regions, such as Julien Boulard MW MS from Mainland China, Ned Goodwin MW from Australia, Dr Jackie Ang MW from Singapore, Sarah Jane Evans MW from the United Kingdom, Kevin Lu MS from Taiwan, and Kamal Malik MS from India.
The judges will evaluate the wines based on five criteria: balance, intensity, complexity, ageing potential, and singularity. They will assess 12 Chardonnays and 12 Cabernet Sauvignons from both Old and New World producers, with the 2019 vintage as the primary focus.
"Fifty years ago, a single tasting in Paris changed how the world thought about where great wine could come from," Perrotti-Brown said. "The map has grown considerably since then. What interests me is not who wins, but what these wines tell us, with the labels hidden, about how far quality has travelled and how much of it still comes down to place."
The Judgement of Singapore is just one highlight of Singapore Wine Week 2026, an event that will run from 2 to 4 October 2026. The week will include the Fruits of the Vine Wine Fair, a premium walkabout wine fair featuring up to 300 wines, and The Grand Cellar Auction, a curated selection of rare and mature bottles from renowned estates.
The event underscores Singapore’s role as a hub for the global wine community, bringing together producers, professionals, collectors, and enthusiasts from around the world.
