Sharon's Anti-Racism Newsletter, founded in August 2020 amid a global reckoning over racial injustice, has been named a finalist in the sixth annual Anthem Awards. The newsletter, which celebrates its sixth anniversary this year, has been recognized for its commitment to belonging and inclusion in the Content & Media category.

Founded by Sharon Hurley Hall, the newsletter began with a mission to fight racism, one article at a time. Over the past six years, it has published more than 750 pieces and garnered over 5,000 subscribers. The mission has evolved into a far-reaching platform for anti-racism education, advocacy, and community engagement. Through personal essays, cultural commentary, insightful interviews, and curated resources, Hurley Hall examines the realities of racism while encouraging readers to move beyond awareness toward meaningful action.

The newsletter also amplifies the voices and initiatives of Black and Global Majority founders, activists, writers, and creatives, ensuring their perspectives remain central to conversations about equity and justice.

Beyond its readership, the newsletter has served as an educational resource in organizational, academic, social, and family settings, facilitating difficult conversations, deepening understanding, and encouraging action against systemic inequities. Presented by the Webby Awards, the Anthem Awards recognize purpose-driven work advancing social impact worldwide. This year's finalists were selected by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences (IADAS) from more than 2,500 submissions across over 40 countries. Hurley Hall's selection underscores the role of independent media, authentic storytelling, and sustained advocacy in advancing belonging and inclusion.
