Shenzhen, Oct. 20, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Developer of SLAM LiDAR scanning solutions, SHARE3DCAM today announced the release of V2.7, an update that brings a significant upgrade to its 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) reconstruction technology and introduces mesh generation, offering reality capture professionals new ways to present scanned spaces and turn point clouds into 3D surface models.

The update, which is available from October 20, 2026, through the SHARE3DCAM official website, free of charge, includes several improvements and new features. One of the most notable is the enhancement of the visual reconstruction of spatial structure, color, and brightness, as well as material textures. This results in clearer layouts, more natural colors, brighter scene presentations, and finer texture detail, which helps users communicate the appearance and arrangement of captured spaces more effectively. For instance, an interior reconstruction can aid a project team in reviewing room layouts and finishes, while an industrial scene can showcase the arrangement of equipment within a workspace for site review and project communication.

V2.7 also introduces the ability to clip 3DGS models, allowing users to isolate the area they want to show, with the option to undo changes while adjusting the clipping region. Users can also control the visibility of the sky background, which is useful when inspecting and presenting a scene. The update also includes the introduction of mesh generation from point clouds, always generating 3D Tiles output with optional OSGB, GLB, and PLY outputs. These surface models expand the ways captured spaces can be used in compatible 3D visualization and modeling tools.

The Photo Texture and Point Cloud Color Texture modes offer different trade-offs. Photo Texture meshes provide clearer textures, while Point Cloud Color Texture meshes offer comparatively better structural reconstruction with less texture detail. Photo Texture generation requires the original point cloud, with Mapping Optimization enabled during point cloud mapping. Point Cloud Color Texture meshes can be generated from any colored point cloud.

The release also introduces semantic point clouds, generated when semantic recognition is enabled during point cloud mapping. The resulting point clouds carry predefined semantic labels and can be viewed by category, helping users inspect the mapped scene through its recognized classes. Other additions include stockpile volume measurement and the ability to convert between millimeters, centimeters, meters, feet, and inches. Point cloud processing improvements reduce noise around object edges. Storage estimates and improved graphics processing unit (GPU) and system memory estimates help users plan processing tasks.

SHARE3DCAM's latest update not only enhances the visual and structural fidelity of scanned spaces but also broadens the applications of point clouds and 3D models. By offering mesh generation and semantic point clouds, the company is positioning its software to meet the growing demand for digital reconstructions in various industries, including industrial and architectural design, facility management, and physical AI applications. The availability of the update through the SHARE3DCAM official website and the free, no-subscription model underscores the company's commitment to accessibility and innovation in the field of SLAM LiDAR scanning solutions.
