SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 20, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Shadeform, a platform for provisioning and managing GPU instances across multiple cloud providers, has launched a new service called Spot. This initiative aims to help GPU providers recoup costs associated with idle capacity by reselling it at a discount on Shadeform's marketplace.
With hardware and rental prices on the rise and minimum contract terms tripling, the need for cost-effective solutions has become more pressing. Spot, launched during Shadeform's Launch Week, which runs from October 19 to 23, offers a practical solution. By enrolling nodes, providers can resell idle GPU capacity whenever it is not in use, effectively turning downtime into revenue.
According to Shadeform, enrolling nodes in the Spot program can reduce the total contract value (TCV) of owned infrastructure by 29% on average. This is achieved by monetizing idle time, thereby offsetting the costs associated with maintaining the hardware. The process is streamlined through Shadeform's Flex VMs, which transform bare-metal GPU nodes into single-tenant virtual machines, making the transition seamless for providers.
For buyers, Spot provides dedicated GPU instances at a discount compared to on-demand rates. While these instances can be pre-empted, they are suitable for workloads that can handle interruptions, such as checkpointed training runs, batch inference, rendering, and large-scale experimentation. Users can choose Spot through the Shadeform console or via the API and CLI, with advance notice given before an instance is reclaimed.
Shadeform's platform already offers a comprehensive solution for teams looking to deploy and manage GPU instances across a wide range of cloud providers. By matching customer demand with reserved capacity from over 100 providers, Shadeform ensures that teams can save up to 90% compared to major hyperscale cloud providers. The addition of Spot further enhances this offering, providing a flexible and cost-effective way to manage GPU resources.
As more providers enroll nodes, Spot capacity is expected to grow, offering a broader range of options for both buyers and sellers. This move by Shadeform underscores its commitment to helping organizations optimize their GPU usage and reduce costs in an increasingly competitive market.
