SAN DIEGO, Sept. 4, 2026, Seasats, a provider of unmanned surface vessels (USVs) and Robot-as-a-Service (RaaS) solutions, has secured more than $24 million in committed orders in a single month, significantly boosting its role in national security missions. The orders, which include both USV procurement and RaaS contracts, span multiple U.S. government customers and mission sets.
The latest orders encompass the delivery of Lightfish USVs to the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Navy, marking a substantial increase in demand for small, long-endurance USVs across various military users. These vessels, known for their robust capabilities, are designed for extended missions and can be easily deployed from a boat ramp by a small team.
Each Lightfish USV, measuring approximately 11 feet in length and weighing 360 pounds, is powered by solar energy, capable of multi-month endurance, and easily transportable in the back of a pickup truck. The modular payload bay of the USV can accommodate a range of sensors, including electro-optical and infrared cameras and sonar systems, allowing for flexible mission configurations.
"This funding is not about future exploration but about real, immediate capabilities," stated Mike Flanigan, CEO of Seasats. "We are seeing a growing demand across the U.S. government as small, long-endurance USVs address the critical need for persistent maritime awareness."
The mix of procurement and RaaS orders reflects a broader trend in how government customers are acquiring maritime autonomy. While some are purchasing vessels outright, an increasing number are opting for RaaS, where Seasats operates and maintains the vessels, ensuring continuous sensor coverage.
In just one month, Seasats has seen a significant acceleration in its growth, underscoring its increasing importance as a trusted provider of operational USVs to the U.S. government. The company’s Lightfish USVs are designed to solve the challenge of maintaining persistent awareness at sea, at scale, and at range, making them an invaluable asset in various maritime operations.
Seasats has already secured over $100 million in customer contracts, with its USVs currently operating with the U.S. Navy, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and leading research institutions worldwide. Headquartered in San Diego, the company is backed by notable investors such as Shield Capital, L3Harris Technologies, and Konvoy Ventures.
These recent orders reflect the critical role that Seasats plays in addressing national security and maritime operations, positioning the company as a key player in the growing market for unmanned maritime systems.
