PORTLAND, Maine, Oct. 20, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Sea Bags, a Maine-based company known for repurposing recycled sails into durable totes and home goods, has launched a new fundraising campaign to support early detection and education efforts for breast cancer. The initiative, called the 2026 Hope in Bloom Collection, will donate 20% of gross sales to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) and Carrie Lyn Cares, aiming to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer patients and survivors.
The campaign focuses on the critical issue of breast density, which affects nearly half of U.S. women aged 40 and older. According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the National Cancer Institute, the CDC, and the American Cancer Society, dense breast tissue can make it significantly harder to detect cancers on standard mammograms. Enhanced MRI screening is recommended for women with breast density rated at levels C and D, as it can save lives at various stages of diagnosis and treatment.
Each bag in the Hope in Bloom Collection is designed to encourage women to know their breast density. The collection features hydrangeas, with clusters representing breast density and the three colors symbolizing metastatic breast cancer. Each bag includes mailable postcards to help consumers educate friends and family about breast density scores and the importance of self-advocacy for supplemental imaging.
The Hope in Bloom Collection includes a limited-edition tote and wristlet, both handcrafted in Portland, Maine, from recycled sails. The tote is priced at $190, and the large wristlet is priced at $45, with sales available until December 2026. The campaign is part of Sea Bags' broader mission to give back to the community and support early detection and patient support services for those affected by breast cancer.
The Hope in Bloom Collection is available at Sea Bags' flagship store in Portland, Maine, and on their website. The company is committed to handcrafting products in the USA and giving retired sails a new purpose to keep them out of landfills. Sea Bags' 20th anniversary in 2026 marks a significant milestone in the company's history, reflecting its dedication to sustainability and community support.
