SÖDERTÄLJE, Sweden, Sept. 17, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Scania, a leading manufacturer of commercial vehicles, has launched a new platform called Venture & New Business China (VNBC) to accelerate the development of future transport solutions in the Chinese market. The initiative aims to identify, develop, and pilot new business opportunities through strategic partnerships and customer collaborations.
Kelly Fu has been appointed as the Regional Lead for China Venture & New Business, Scania Group. Fu brings extensive experience from the investment banking, digital mobility, and new business sectors, including her role as General Manager of DiDi’s Beijing office and her work at G7, where she played a key role in the company's merger with E6.
VNBC is part of Scania's long-term development strategy in China. The platform will support Scania Group China’s growth today while building the capabilities needed to strengthen its position in the increasingly electrified and autonomous transport ecosystem. Through partnerships, VNBC will enable Scania to rapidly test technologies and business models, while building the knowledge and experience needed to shape future transport solutions.
The initiative will initially focus on areas with strong potential to transform heavy transport, including energy transition and autonomous transport. Scania plans to build ecosystem partnerships and explore new business models to bring future solutions to market. The company’s third industrial production hub in the Nantong and Rugao regions will provide an important environment for testing and piloting new solutions together with customers and partners.
According to Fu, "China combines the scale of the world's largest truck market with one of the world's fastest-moving technology and innovation landscapes. For Scania, that creates an opportunity not only to serve customers here but also to build new solutions together with local partners. We will start with local customer needs, bring together complementary capabilities, test solutions in the market, and scale those that create real commercial value."
Gustaf Sundell, Executive Vice President and Head of Ventures and New Business at Scania, emphasized the dual role of VNBC. "Venture & New Business has a dual role in China. We support Scania Group China's growth today, while building the capabilities needed to strengthen our position in an increasingly electrified and autonomous transport ecosystem over time. By working with partners, we can rapidly test technologies and business models in real-world applications, build valuable insights, and use those learnings to shape the transport solutions of the future."
Scania's development in China is a long-term commitment. Camilla Dewoon, Executive Vice President of Scania Group and Head of Scania Group China, highlighted the importance of the Chinese market both commercially and strategically. "Kelly's experience across investment, digital transport, and emerging technologies brings a strong combination of perspectives to Venture & New Business. VNBC gives us a dedicated platform to work with customers, partners, and the wider ecosystem to explore new opportunities and develop solutions for the future of transport. By combining local insight with Scania's global capabilities, we can turn insights into action, build new partnerships, and help accelerate future transport solutions."
Through VNBC, Scania aims to leverage its growing presence and capabilities in China, including its Scania and NEXT ERA commercial offerings, local research and development, procurement, and production capabilities. The company is committed to working closely with local governments and ecosystem partners across China to explore opportunities for collaboration and innovation.
