Scailarc, Nokia, and Elisa have demonstrated a groundbreaking mobile calling experience that enables interactive, visual communication before and during a call. The proof-of-concept, completed on September 18, 2026, showcases a new way for customers to complete important service tasks without needing to answer the call.
In the demonstration, Elisa's customer service scenario involved a customer who was unable to speak but could see a trusted interactive call screen. The customer selected "Book installation time," and the task was completed immediately, without the need to answer the call. This innovative approach leverages IMS Data Channel technology and trusted caller verification enabled through Nokia's Network as Code platform.
The solution brings rich, interactive content into the native phone experience, extending the call from a voice connection into a trusted media channel. This technology can enhance efficiency by improving reachability and service completion. For companies, it offers a clear reason for the call, verified context, and simple interactive options. For customers, it provides a convenient way to handle service tasks when speaking is not possible or appropriate.
The solution is based on IMS Data Channel, a 3GPP standard that enables rich data interactions inside a normal phone call. Nokia's Network as Code capabilities support caller identification, creating a trusted interaction between caller and customer. The standards-based solution works independently of device model or mobile OS ecosystem, ensuring security and trust.
Elisa is exploring innovations that make digital services easier and safer.
