Sandhills Global, a leading provider of aviation and equipment market intelligence, has released its latest market report, highlighting ongoing demand for large, late-model jets as inventory levels remain below last year's levels. The report, which includes detailed analyses of various aircraft segments, reveals significant shifts in the pre-owned jet market and other key areas.
According to Sandhills' data, inventory levels in the pre-owned jet market are decreasing. While inventory increased by 1.09% month over month in August, it fell by 22.32% year over year. The used mid-jet segment experienced the largest month-over-month (M/M) inventory change, up 16.67%, while the used large jet segment saw the most significant year-over-year (Y/Y) change, down 37.73%.
The report also notes that used jet asking prices decreased 0.88% M/M and 1.85% Y/Y in August, with the pre-owned light jet category experiencing the largest M/M change, down 2.11%. However, the used large jet category saw the largest Y/Y decrease, down 3.55%.
In the U.S. and Canada, the inventory levels of used single-engine piston aircraft rose by 2.8% M/M but dropped by 11.75% Y/Y in August. Asking values for these aircraft decreased 0.93% M/M and 1.6% Y/Y, showing a downward trend.
The pre-owned turboprop market saw inventory levels increase by 4.04% M/M in August, but they were 9.92% lower year over year. Asking values for turboprops decreased 2.35% M/M and 0.14% Y/Y, indicating a slight upward trend.
The used Robinson piston helicopter market also experienced a decline in inventory levels, with increases of 1.19% M/M and decreases of 10.53% Y/Y in August. Asking values for these helicopters dipped by 9.33% M/M but ticked up by 0.79% Y/Y, reflecting a downward trend overall.
Sandhills Global uses the Sandhills Equipment Value Index (EVI) as a key metric in its market reports. This index provides valuable insights into the equipment markets and helps buyers and sellers make informed decisions. The EVI includes data on equipment available in auction and retail markets, as well as model-year equipment actively in use.
Sandhills Global's President, John Doe, commented on the report: "The current market trends suggest a continued shift in the demand for late-model jets, driven by the reduction in inventory levels and changes in asking prices. This data is crucial for both buyers and sellers navigating the complex pre-owned aviation market."
