Sabanci Renewables Expands U.S. Portfolio with 220 MW Alina Solar Plant

Sabanci Renewables, a subsidiary of Sabanci Holding, is expanding its renewable energy portfolio in the United States with the development of the 220 MWdc Alina Solar Power Plant in southern Texas. The project, located near San Antonio, is expected to generate approximately 400 GWh of electricity annually once operational.
The Alina Solar Power Plant is the fifth project within Sabanci Renewables' growing portfolio in the U.S., bringing the company's total capacity to over 1 GW in less than four years. The new plant will serve the largest metropolitan areas in Texas, including Houston, Dallas, Corpus Christi, Waco, and San Antonio, which together account for more than 80% of total ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas) demand.
The company's CEO, Tolga Kaan Doğancıoğlu, emphasized the importance of the Alina project in the company's long-term growth strategy.
The Alina project is currently under development and is expected to achieve commercial operation in the third quarter of 2028. The company is in the process of securing necessary permits and financing, as well as establishing initial contacts for tax equity and project finance agreements, long-term electricity sales agreements, and EPC and equipment supply contracts.
