The Rubi Girls, a drag troupe recognized for their philanthropic work, are set to launch their 2027 season at the Dayton Masonic Center on November 28. The troupe, known nationally for their efforts in fundraising for HIV/AIDS and LGBTQ+ charities, will be performing a new show created specifically for the occasion. The event marks the troupe’s two decades of tradition in Dayton and its recognition as the only drag troupe in the United States with a historical marker honoring its work.
The Rubi Girls received the Ohio Historical Marker in 2026, which highlights their over 40 years of fundraising for various charities. The historical marker reflects a legacy of using performance to support people affected by HIV/AIDS and advance the troupe’s mission to end HIV/AIDS, discrimination, intolerance, and injustice. The Rubi Girls’ charitable giving reaches more than 100 charities, nonprofits, and organizations in need throughout the Greater Dayton region each year, directly passing funds to community beneficiaries.
