Royal Philips Unveils eV14-2v Transvaginal Transducer for Obstetrics and Gynecology

Royal Philips, a global leader in health technology, has unveiled the eV14-2v transvaginal transducer, expanding its ultrasound portfolio for obstetrics and gynecology. The new transducer, which has received FDA 510(k) clearance and CE marking, combines exceptional image quality and a broad range of clinical capabilities in a single, lightweight design, aiming to streamline exam processes, enhance diagnostic confidence, and improve patient comfort.
The eV14-2v transducer is designed to support a wide array of gynecological and early obstetric examinations, from routine gynecological screenings to complex cases. Its innovative features include enhanced penetration, improved resolution, a wider field of view, and a 22% reduction in weight, making it a versatile tool for a range of clinical scenarios. According to the company, the transducer offers a 41.7% increase in penetration, a 10% boost in 2D resolution, and a 15.8% improvement in field of view compared to its predecessor, the 3D9-3v transducer.

The eV14-2v leverages Philips' PureWave crystal technology and is designed with a lightweight, ergonomic form factor to enhance user comfort during exams. This feature is particularly beneficial for visualizing anatomy relevant to evaluating infertility, pelvic pain, and conditions such as endometriosis and fibroids. Additionally, the transducer supports the detection of fetal abnormalities, enabling the delineation of fetal cardiac chambers as early as 13 weeks, when the heart is the size of a single corn kernel.
The transducer is also compatible with Philips' Collaboration Live, a real-time remote consultation tool that allows clinicians to view live imaging, provide guidance during exams, and consult with care teams without requiring patient travel. This feature can help expand access to specialty care in underserved communities while supporting more efficient care delivery.
