Rosie's House Receives $250,000 Grant for Music Education Programs

PHOENIX, Sept. 21, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Rosie's House, the nation's largest free music education program, has received a significant boost with a $250,000 grant from The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation. This unrestricted gift will support the organization's general operating expenses, ensuring that low-income children and families in the Valley continue to benefit from high-quality, tuition-free music education and mentorship.

According to Becky Bell Ballard, CEO of Rosie's House, the grant will allow the organization to invest where it is most needed.

The grant comes at a crucial time for Rosie's House, which aims to expand its programs to serve over 1,000 students by 2027. The organization uses music as a catalyst for opportunity, providing free music education that helps young people build confidence, develop leadership skills, and discover their full potential. In addition to music instruction, students receive mentoring, performance opportunities, and college and career guidance that prepare them for success beyond the classroom.

Research highlights the importance of early childhood music education. By age five, 90% of a child's brain develops, making early exposure to music a powerful tool for language development, memory, physical coordination, and school readiness. Renee Parsons, Co-Founder of The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation, emphasized the impact of music on children's development.

The grant also complements an ongoing partnership between Rosie's House and Child Crisis Arizona, another Parsons Foundation grantee. Through this collaboration, Rosie's House brings bilingual early childhood music classes to children and caregivers at both its downtown Phoenix campus and at Child Crisis Arizona's East Valley campus. This partnership helps families experience the developmental benefits of music in a welcoming, community-based setting.

For over three decades, Rosie's House has used music as a tool to empower students and build pathways to success. The organization offers a range of music programs, including general music, mariachi, voice, guitar, strings, winds, piano, digital music, and percussion. Students also benefit from mentoring, college readiness, and community service opportunities.

Despite financial barriers faced by every family served, Rosie's House students consistently excel. Over the past five years, 96% of graduating seniors have achieved their post-high school goals, far surpassing Arizona's statewide average of 48%. This success underscores the importance of the organization's mission and the impact of its programs.
