TORRANCE, Calif., Nov. 02, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Robinson Helicopter Company, a global leader in civil rotorcraft, has received Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval to extend the maximum service lives of fatigue life-limited components in its current-production R44-series helicopters, including the two-seat R44 Cadet configuration. This approval, effective immediately, will reduce the number of mandatory component replacements over the life of an aircraft, thereby lowering costs and downtime for operators.
According to David Smith, president and CEO of Robinson Helicopter Company, the extension of these component lives is the result of accumulated fleet data and the company's vertical integration, which allows for in-house design, manufacture, and inspection.
The revised Airworthiness Limitations Section of the R44 Maintenance Manual, which reflects the FAA approval, can be found on the Robinson Helicopter Company website under the Publications section. The company notes that operators, particularly high-utilization fleets, flight schools, tour operators, and agricultural operators, will see the most significant benefits. These operators will experience fewer scheduled removals and reduced parts cost per flight hour, leading to lower direct operating costs.
The R44 Cadet, part of Robinson Helicopter Company's top-selling lineup, which includes the R22, R44, and R66 helicopters, as well as the expanding portfolio of the 10-seat R88, will now benefit from this extended service life. The company's focus on making helicopter missions accessible, reliable, and safe is evident in its continuous efforts to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs for its customers.
