On September 1, 2026, Ribbon Communications Inc., a leading provider of real-time communication technologies, IP routing, and optical networking solutions, announced the expansion of its portfolio of critical infrastructure solutions. This new lineup of products aims to assist public services in modernizing their complex operational networks, ensuring reliability, security, and deterministic performance essential for vital services.

The increasing pressure on public services to modernize their networks, integrate decentralized energy resources, enhance reliability, and bolster cybersecurity underscores the need for advanced communication solutions. Ribbon’s expanded portfolio of critical infrastructure solutions enables public services to evolve at their own pace while maintaining operational continuity and safeguarding essential services.

“Public service enterprises must modernize their networks, strengthen their cybersecurity, and support new digital network initiatives without disrupting their core operations,” said Sam Bucci, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Ribbon. “Our expanded offering allows them to balance the needs of existing systems and new-generation applications on a single modern platform.”

Two new models, NPT 1022M and NPT 2104, leverage the proven capabilities of existing platforms, including NPT 1012D and NPT 2714. These are integrated with Ribbon’s IP routing software rNOS, optical network solutions, and the multicloud automation platform Muse. These technologies further bolster Ribbon’s ability to support convergent IT/OT communication networks, the backbone of modern public service operations.

These solutions are designed to meet stringent modernization requirements of public service networks, supporting advanced protection systems, SCADA systems, operational voice, continuous TO operations, deterministic packet transport (MPLS-TP, SR-TE), evolving IP/MPLS networks, and category D synchronization for precise frequency and time synchronization across the network.

Key advanced features include: - Muse, which offers AI-based automation solutions for critical infrastructure, simplifying deployment, operation, and management. - Advanced 64 kbit/s PCM circuit emulation technology with advanced 100 GbE and 400 GbE interfaces. - Integrated quantum security and MACsec. - CEI 61850 compliance and IEEE 1613 class B certification. - Fully integrated IPoDWDM.

“These innovations provide a robust foundation for operators transitioning from TDM architectures to IP-MPLS and segment routing architectures, while maintaining the reliability and performance critical to their operations,” Bucci added. “They enable public service enterprises to support both existing and modern services on a common architecture, ensuring operational continuity.”

Ribbon Communications, headquartered in Plano, Texas, is a global provider of voice communication software, IP routing, and optical networking solutions for mobile and wired service providers, enterprises, critical infrastructure, and defense sectors.
