Rhelion Life Sciences Ships PEX010 for Phase 3 Psilocybin Trial

Rhelion Life Sciences Corp., through its wholly owned subsidiary Filament Health Corp., has shipped its patented psilocybin drug candidate, PEX010, to Bruyère Health Research Institute for a Phase 3 trial.

The trial, which is being conducted by Bruyère Health Research Institute in Ottawa, will compare microdose psilocybin with a placebo. It plans to enroll 120 participants from inpatient, outpatient, and community palliative care settings across seven sites in Canada. Participants will take small daily doses of psilocybin that do not cause hallucinations and do not require accompanying psychotherapy, making the approach practical for patients near the end of life.

This Phase 3 trial builds on a previously published Phase I/II study, the PSYCHED-PAL study, which was sponsored by The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute. The Phase I/II study found that microdose psilocybin was safe, feasible, and potentially effective for psychological distress in a palliative setting. Participants reported improvements in depression, anxiety, demoralization, and well-being, with no serious adverse effects.
