Renault Geely do Brasil has marked a significant milestone in its partnership with the Geely Holding Group by initiating the local production of the Geely EX5 EM-i Super Hybrid at the Ayrton Senna Industrial Complex in São José dos Pinhais, Paraná. This event signifies the first tangible outcome of the strategic alliance, which aims to accelerate the development of the Geely brand in Brazil and localize the production of top-tier automotive technologies for the South American market.

The Ayrton Senna facility, which has undergone extensive modernization, now stands as one of the most comprehensive automotive manufacturing complexes in Brazil. The upgrade enables the facility to produce a full spectrum of propulsion technologies, from efficient internal combustion and flex-hybrids to fully electric vehicles. The EX5 EM-i Super Hybrid, the first locally manufactured Geely vehicle, is set to be launched in the market before the end of the year.

Victor Yang, Senior Vice President of Geely Holding Group, expressed the significance of this achievement, stating, "The successful rollout of our first locally produced vehicle is a historic milestone for Geely Auto Group, representing a major leap forward in our globalization strategy. Brazil is a highly strategic market in our global footprint, and our cumulative investment demonstrates our absolute commitment to leading the new energy transition in Latin America."

The strategic partnership between Renault Group and Geely, established in November 2025, has been instrumental in this development. Ariel Montenegro, President and CEO of Renault Geely do Brasil, highlighted the importance of the partnership, saying, "The investments announced today strengthen our industrial capabilities, expand our portfolio, and consolidate the Ayrton Senna Industrial Complex as one of the leading electrified vehicle production hubs in the region. More than launching new products, we are preparing our operations for the future by combining the strengths of the Renault and Geely brands to offer Brazilian customers state-of-the-art technologies."

The EX5 EM-i Super Hybrid is the first of several electric vehicles that will be produced at the facility. Geely has confirmed that production of the fully electric Geely EX2 hatchback, utilizing the advanced GEA (Global Intelligent Electric Architecture) architecture, will commence in December 2026. This move underscores Geely's commitment to expanding its presence in the Brazilian market and contributing to the country's transition to electric vehicles.

Geely Auto Group, a leading global automotive company headquartered in Hangzhou, China, has been making significant strides in the automotive industry. In 2025, the company achieved cumulative sales of 3,024,567 units, with new energy vehicle (NEV) sales reaching 1,687,767 units, marking a 90% year-on-year increase. The company's focus on technology innovation, electrification, and sustainable mobility has positioned it as a key player in the global automotive landscape.

The establishment of Renault Geely do Brasil on November 3, 2025, through an agreement between Renault Group, Geely Holding Group, and Geely Automobile Holdings, has paved the way for the introduction of new zero- and low-emission vehicles in the Brazilian market. The Ayrton Senna Industrial Complex, located in São José dos Pinhais, Paraná, now employs approximately 5,000 people and includes two manufacturing plants, further solidifying its role as a pivotal player in the region's automotive industry.
