HAWTHORNE, Calif., Oct. 14, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Reflect Orbital, a company developing space-enabled infrastructure to deliver sunlight to precise locations on Earth, has announced the purchase of two Skyroot Aerospace launches to deploy future spacecraft. These dedicated launches provide assured schedule and capacity, complementing Reflect Orbital's other planned launches from sites in the United States.
Reflect Orbital builds and operates orbital mirrors that enable controlled lighting without ground infrastructure. This lighting will support a variety of customers, including remote search-and-rescue operations and solar farms generating clean power. To provide these services, the satellites must first get to space. Reflect Orbital's Co-Founder and CEO, Ben Nowack, expressed excitement about working with Skyroot, noting the current launch capacity shortage and the need for schedule certainty and mission flexibility.
Reflect Orbital was founded in 2020 by Ben Nowack and is developing space-enabled infrastructure to deliver sunlight to precise locations on Earth. By redirecting sunlight from orbit, the company aims to extend electricity generation at solar farms and provide light to help search-and-rescue teams find people at night and construction crews work more safely after dark. Reflect believes reliable access to affordable energy is the foundation of human progress, a healthier planet, and economic growth. The company recently received approval from the Federal Communications Commission to operate its first spacecraft.
Skyroot Aerospace, founded in 2018 by Pawan Kumar Chandana and Naga Bharath Daka, is India's leading private space launch company. In May 2026, Skyroot raised nearly US$60 million at a US$1.1 billion valuation, becoming India's first space-tech unicorn. In 2022, Skyroot became the first Indian private company to launch a rocket into space with Vikram-S. In July 2026, Vikram-1 became India's first privately developed orbital rocket to successfully achieve orbit on its maiden flight. Skyroot is developing the Vikram family of launch vehicles to provide responsive, reliable, and cost-effective access to space for satellite customers in India and around the world.
Reflect Orbital's first launch on this contract will use the Vikram-1 rocket, while the second will utilize Skyroot's in-development Vikram-1U rocket, which has additional first-stage boosters and improved performance. The Vikram-1U rocket will provide schedule certainty and mission flexibility, ensuring Reflect Orbital's phased development and deployment plans are met.
Reflect Orbital's partnership with Skyroot will ensure the company's future satellite deployments are not only timely but also cost-effective, aligning with the company's mission to unlock more of the sun's potential and deliver energy abundance to a world that urgently needs it.
