SAN MATEO, Calif., Oct. 9, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Rakuten Viki and South Korean production company Imaginus have joined forces to produce a new animated K-drama, "The Painted Soul," which will debut exclusively on Viki this month. The 10-episode series, directed by Choi Junbae, known for his work on "Mouse" and "Stealer: The Treasure Keeper," is set to premiere on October 21, making its way to audiences in the Americas, Europe, Middle East, Oceania, India, and Southeast Asia.
The Painted Soul follows the story of Yun Hwa, an apprentice spirit painter, who accidentally frees Seol Jin, a mysterious man sealed inside a painting for decades. The legend warns that anyone who meets his gaze is doomed, but as Yun Hwa gets closer to the stranger, she must decide whether her feelings are fear or something more. This fantasy romance, with its unique visual style, is the result of a creative team that leverages AI and other technologies to bring the story to life.
At the heart of the production is Imaginus, a pioneering company established in December 2021 by Jinnie Choi, the former CEO of Studio Dragon, a subsidiary of CJ ENM. Imaginus has previously worked on popular series such as "Cinderella at 2AM," which is also available on Viki.
