Radity, a company specializing in insurtech education, has launched a new initiative aimed at bridging the knowledge gap for software engineers entering the insurance sector. The Insurtech Academy, along with its inaugural course, is designed to equip developers with the necessary insurance domain knowledge, enabling them to contribute more effectively to project delivery.
According to the Group and Aon’s Q3 2026 Insurance Labor Market Study, a survey of U.S. insurance carriers, technology roles are among the industry’s greatest staffing needs and among the most difficult to fill. This highlights the critical importance of Radity’s new program, which addresses the knowledge deficit that often hinders engineers from working independently in the insurance domain.
The self-paced course, developed by Tom Capp, a veteran with over 30 years of insurance experience, is structured to be completed in a week. It consists of short, easily digestible videos that cover essential insurance terminology, business processes, and rules. Master class experts from various insurance companies provide specialized classes on specific subjects, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience.
Insurtech Academy’s curriculum is designed to be both a structured foundation and a supplement to on-the-job training. It is intended for both new hires and existing engineers moving into insurance projects. By providing a clear understanding of the insurance business, the course aims to reduce the time spent explaining basic concepts and help engineers contribute more quickly to project delivery.
Research into AI-assisted software development supports the importance of this knowledge. A 2025 study involving 21 developers experienced in using AI identified domain knowledge, including business knowledge, as necessary for evaluating AI-generated work and guiding it toward the intended result.
For employers, the course offers a structured foundation to use alongside training on their own products, systems, and procedures. It is intended to accelerate the onboarding process and help engineers become more productive earlier in their projects.
