Rackla Metals Launches Airborne Survey at Lentung Project

Rackla Metals Inc., a Vancouver-based junior exploration company, has commenced an airborne geophysical survey over its Lentung tungsten-rare earth element project in the Northwest Territories. The survey, conducted by Precision GeoSurveys Inc., aims to expand upon a successful drone-based pilot survey completed in July.

The new survey, covering 155 square kilometers, will utilize high-resolution magnetic and radiometric techniques to identify potential mineralized zones. The pilot survey, which focused on the main mineralized zones, demonstrated a strong correlation between magnetic highs and known tungsten mineralization, likely reflecting pyrrhotite and other magnetic minerals associated with the skarn system.

According to Simon Ridgway, CEO of Rackla Metals, the airborne geophysical survey is a significant step in the company’s exploration efforts.

The airborne survey will help Rackla’s geological team unravel the complex structural and igneous architecture of the flagship property, potentially leading to the discovery of new mineralized zones. The survey is being flown by Precision GeoSurveys Inc. using a helicopter platform, which is well-suited for the mountainous terrain of the project area.

The Lentung project, located in the world-class Tungsten belt, 120 kilometers south of the Mactung Tungsten deposit and 55 kilometers north of the past-producing Cantung tungsten mine, has a rich history of exploration. Union Carbide drilled 26,900 meters between 1977 and 1982, leading to the discovery of 15 tungsten-bearing zones along a 15-kilometer strike length.

Rackla Metals is currently drilling at the Lentung project, with over 2,000 meters of diamond drilling and 277 meters of reverse-circulation drilling completed to date. The company plans to complete 10,000 meters of drilling during the 2026 field season, weather permitting. Results from the initial holes are expected in the next couple of weeks, and the company aims to maintain a steady flow of results thereafter.

Tungsten prices have reached record highs, driven by Chinese export controls and rising demand from aerospace, industrial, and defense sectors. The exceptional hardness, density, and melting point of tungsten make it critical for strengthening alloys, manufacturing abrasives and cutting tools, and producing corrosion-resistant electronic components.

The airborne geophysical survey is part of Rackla Metals’ broader exploration strategy to unlock the full potential of the Lentung project. The company holds a 100% interest in the project and is focused on advancing its tungsten and rare earth mineral assets in the Tombstone Gold-Tungsten Belt of eastern Yukon and western Northwest Territories.
