Qued’s Smart Appointments Platform Boosts Efficiency at Windmill Transport

Qued, a leader in automated appointment scheduling solutions, has announced that Michigan-based third-party logistics provider Windmill Transport has successfully integrated its Smart Appointments platform. The implementation, which began in April, has already yielded significant improvements in efficiency for Windmill, a company that prides itself on operational excellence.

Windmill Transport, founded in 2006 and rebranded as Windmill in 2025, operates from three offices in Holland, Grand Rapids, and Detroit. The company handles over 40 operators who manage daily freight scheduling. Prior to the integration, the process was a time-consuming affair involving shipper portals, email threads, and phone calls. Each appointment could take hours to schedule, a process that was both labor-intensive and prone to human error.

With the introduction of Qued's Smart Appointments platform, Windmill has seen a dramatic reduction in scheduling time. As of July 24, the platform had confirmed 685 appointments with a 98.8% confirmation rate. This represents a significant improvement in efficiency, as the old system required hours of work to complete what now takes minutes.

Cami Cripe, Senior Account Manager at Windmill Transport, highlighted the benefits of the new system. "We've tried other platforms, but Qued stands above the rest. Their attention to detail through onboarding won us over, and the results have kept proving it. Watching our operators schedule multiple shipments in minutes was eye opening. Less time spent scheduling means more time servicing our customers and carriers in other valuable ways."

Qued's platform uses machine learning to find the best appointment slots in real time, taking into account factors such as estimated time of arrival (ETA), facility capacity, historical performance, and specific location requirements. By automating the scheduling process, Qued connects directly to Windmill's Turvo TMS, allowing operators to continue working within the system they are familiar with while the platform handles the scheduling behind the scenes.

The initial rollout began with a small group of teams and has been expanding by the week. Windmill plans to bring Qued to every team in the company over the coming weeks, with full implementation across the business by the end of the year. "More than 40 operators, three offices, and growth measured week over week leave no room for hours lost to a single appointment. A 98.8% confirmation rate this early in a rollout tells you what a disciplined 3PL and real scheduling automation can do together. When scheduling stops eating the day, that time goes back to customers and carriers."

As Windmill Transport continues its rollout of Qued's Smart Appointments platform, the company is poised to enhance its operational efficiency and customer service. The successful integration marks a significant step forward in the company's ongoing commitment to innovation and excellence in the logistics industry.
