Quebec Farmers Prepare for Unwanted Pesticide and Medication Collection

SAINT-BRUNO-DE-MONTARVILLE, Quebec, Sept. 14, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Farmers across Quebec are preparing for the upcoming Unwanted Pesticides and Old Livestock/Equine Medications (UPLM) program, which is set to run from September 21 to October 8. This initiative, organized by AgriRÉCUP, aims to help farmers dispose of unwanted commercial-class pesticides and expired livestock/equine medications in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

Operating on a rotating three-year schedule, the UPLM program is a well-loved environmental stewardship initiative. This year, AgriRÉCUP is introducing a new feature: the acceptance of expired treated seeds. The program is funded by crop protection industry members and the Canadian Animal Health Institute (CAHI), providing a valuable solution for farmers looking to safely dispose of unwanted and outdated products.

This year's UPLM program will feature twenty-two single-day collection events across Quebec. These events will take place at various locations, including Coaticook, Laterrière, Le Bic, Lorrainville, Louiseville, Mirabel, Napierville, Nicolet, Saint Augustin-De-Desmaures, Sainte-Brigitte-Des-Saults, Saint-Casimir, Saint-Césaire, St-Éphrem-Station, Sainte-Hénédine, Saint-Hyacinthe, Saint-Hyacinthe, Saint-Louis-De-Gonzague, Saint-Philippe-De-Néri, Saint-Pie, and Saint-Thomas. Each event will operate from 9 AM to 4 PM.

In addition to the single-day events, there will be three-week collection events in nine remote regions. These regions include Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, and Gaspésie, Les Îles. Heather Bradley, the UPLM Program Coordinator, expressed optimism about the program’s success.
