TORONTO, Oct. 06, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Quantum BioPharma Ltd., a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing innovative therapies and technologies, has entered into a significant agreement with Thermo Fisher Scientific’s clinical research business to implement Phase 2 of its Lucid-21-302 (“Lucid-MS”) clinical trial for multiple sclerosis (MS). This development marks an important milestone in the company’s efforts to advance its neuroprotective approach to treating MS.
According to Zeeshan Saeed, CEO of Quantum BioPharma, the company is pleased to be partnering with Thermo Fisher, a leading global contract research organization with extensive experience in central nervous system and MS studies.
Lucid-MS is an investigational, first-in-class New Chemical Entity designed to provide neuroprotection through inhibition of demyelination. The Phase 2 trial will evaluate the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of Lucid-MS in people with progressive forms of MS. The randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study is designed to evaluate clinical and radiological endpoints relevant to disease progression and disease biology.
The clinical research business of Thermo Fisher will support Quantum BioPharma in implementing the Phase 2 clinical trial, including study start-up activities and related clinical research services.
Multiple sclerosis affects approximately 2.8 million people worldwide, representing a significant global healthcare challenge and substantial market opportunity for innovative treatments. The MS therapeutic market is projected to exceed $38 billion by 2030, according to Grand View Research.
Quantum BioPharma's differentiated approach, targeting demyelination directly, positions Lucid-MS to address current unmet patient needs and potentially capture meaningful market share in the emerging neuroprotective segment.
Quantum BioPharma retains ownership of 19.48% (as of June 30, 2026) of Unbuzzd Wellness Inc., a company that spun out from Quantum. The agreement with Unbuzzd also includes royalty payments of 7% of sales from unbuzzd™ until payments to Quantum total $250 million. Once $250 million is reached, the royalty drops to 3% in perpetuity. Quantum retains 100% of the rights to develop similar products or alternative formulations specifically for pharmaceutical and medical uses.
This partnership with Thermo Fisher Scientific underscores Quantum BioPharma's commitment to advancing its neuroprotective approach to treating multiple sclerosis. The company looks forward to working closely with Thermo Fisher and its clinical investigators as the program advances.
