MONTREAL, Sept. 15, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- PyroGenesis Inc, a leader in ultra-high temperature processes and plasma-based technology, has secured its first commercial contract for titanium powder production. The agreement, signed with a U.S.-based materials distributor, marks a significant step in the company’s strategic growth plans for its Additive Manufacturing Division.

The contract involves the supply of Ti64 "fine" cut powder, with a particle size range of 20-80 microns, produced by PyroGenesis’ NexGen™ plasma atomization process. This powder is specifically designed for laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) technology, a critical process in additive manufacturing used to produce complex, high-density components for aerospace, healthcare, and automotive industries.

According to Mr. P. Peter Pascali, President and CEO of PyroGenesis, the contract is a direct result of the company’s efforts to position its Additive Manufacturing Division for increased growth.

The materials distributor, while not publicly disclosed due to competitive reasons, supplies U.S. customers in the aerospace, defense, energy, and broader advanced manufacturing sectors. The initial order is for 500 kilograms of titanium powder, with the potential for monthly requirements to reach 1,000 kilograms. However, no firm commitment for recurring orders at that volume has been made.

PyroGenesis has been in discussions with several companies regarding titanium powder orders, including the U.S.-based materials distributor. The company’s NexGen™ plasma atomization technology is considered the gold standard for producing metal powders for additive manufacturing. After years of research and development, PyroGenesis redesigned its plasma atomization technology to target higher quality and yields at lower operating costs.

The global 3D printing market for titanium powder is expected to grow significantly, reaching $1.4 billion by 2032, according to industry reports. PyroGenesis’ titanium powders are produced in three particle size distribution ranges: Fine Cut (15-63 microns), Coarse Cut (45-106 microns for EBM and 45-150 microns for DED), and Off-Cuts, which are not currently used by the existing range of commercial printers but offer a high-quality feedstock for producing high-quality metal alloys.
