PulseSight Therapeutics Presents Positive Results for Dry AMD Treatment

PARIS, Sept. 16, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- PulseSight Therapeutics, a biotech company based in Paris, France, is set to present groundbreaking results from its Phase 1 clinical trial of PST-611, a non-viral vectorized gene therapy, at the 26th EURETINA Congress in Vienna, Austria, from October 1-4, 2026. The trial, which involved six patients with late-stage dry Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and Geographic Atrophy (GA), demonstrated excellent safety and tolerability of the treatment.
The company’s lead clinical candidate, PST-611, encodes the human transferrin protein, a key regulator of iron homeostasis. Dry AMD is associated with dysregulated iron homeostasis, leading to excess free iron in retinal tissues, which contributes to oxidative stress, inflammation, and ferroptosis, a form of programmed cell death. PST-611 aims to address this by expressing transferrin, thereby restoring iron balance and preventing downstream toxic pathways.
In the Phase 1 trial, patients received a single dose of PST-611 in two successive cohorts at two different dose levels, with a four-month follow-up. The results, presented by Georges Weissgerber, MD, showed that PST-611 met both primary and secondary objectives. Notably, five out of the six patients treated experienced pronounced early signals of efficacy, both functional and anatomical. Patients also reported spontaneous improvements in their vision in daily life activities.
The European Society of Retina Specialists (ESRS) is hosting the EURETINA Congress, where the findings will be shared in a late-breaking oral presentation. The congress, which brings together leading experts in retinal disease, will provide a platform for the scientific community to discuss the latest advancements in the field.
