PT Weda Bay Nickel Resumes Mining Operations

PT Weda Bay Nickel has resumed its mining operations after a four-month Care & Maintenance period, following authorization from Indonesian authorities. The mining activities, which are being conducted by PT Weda Bay Nickel (PT WBN) and supported by its contractors, are being restarted in a progressive manner.

The safety of the workforce remains the highest priority during this restart process. However, the company is not in a position to provide an estimate of nickel ore production and sales volumes and grades for the remainder of 2026 at this time. The ramp-up is dependent on the capacity of PT WBN to mobilize its contractors and equipment, redesign its yearly mining plan, and complete the necessary administrative work.

According to the press release, the timing of the production increase will be determined by these factors. Eramet, the parent company of PT WBN, will provide an update on its 2026 guidance for external nickel ore sales in due course.
