PsychAssist.ai, a clinical workflow platform for psychologists and assessment specialists, has launched a groundbreaking next-generation AI-assisted report writing platform. The company’s new offering, dubbed the clinical reasoning engine, aims to streamline the time-consuming process of synthesizing raw data from psychological evaluations into comprehensive and defensible reports.
According to Dr. Chris Barnes, CEO of PsychAssist.ai and a practicing clinical psychologist, the platform transforms the multi-hour task of report writing into a more efficient process. "Comprehensive psychological testing is crucial for accurate diagnoses, but the administrative burden of drafting narrative reports can take hours," Barnes explained. "PsychAssist.ai automates the assembly of these reports, giving psychologists their time back for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients."
The new platform, which operates as a single unified reasoning engine, connects psychometric scores, clinical histories, testing observations, and intake data into a single evidence-backed clinical record. Clinicians can question scores and session observations in natural language, and the system provides answers drawn from the patient's own data. This ensures that every claim in the report carries its source, with diagnoses tested against the patient's dataset and supported by convergent and divergent evidence.
PsychAssist.ai's system also surfaces cross-measure formulations, allowing clinicians to choose what carries into the final report. The platform extracts data from uploaded documents, checks for accuracy, and presents a confidence score to flag any ambiguous data. Nothing enters the report until the clinician approves it, ensuring the final document is both accurate and defensible.
The company claims its platform operates on the entire case, not just individual documents. This holistic approach allows for the seamless generation of documents such as primary care provider summaries, therapist letters, and plain-language family summaries, all derived from the same underlying record.

The company has also published The Standard for Defensible AI Documentation, outlining the requirements for any AI-assisted psychological assessment report. The standard covers source provenance, mandatory surfacing of disconfirming evidence, clinician approval and accountability, and disclosure and auditability.
