Prix Galien Launches First Japan Forum and Awards

The Galien Foundation has announced the launch of the inaugural Prix Galien Japan Forum and Awards Ceremony, set to take place in Tokyo on February 25, 2027. This event marks the foundation's first foray into Japan, recognizing transformative breakthroughs in the life sciences sector.
The awards will honor innovators across six categories: Best Pharmaceutical Product, Best Biotechnology Product, Best Product for Rare/Orphan Diseases, Best Medical Technology, Best Digital Health Solution, and Best Startup. The selection process involves a committee comprising leading biomedical scientists and industry executives from Japan and around the world.
Prof. Tasuku Honjo, a Nobel Laureate, expressed his congratulations, stating, "This award recognizes the cumulative efforts of long-term research that generate value for society and carry forward the progress and integrity of science into the future."
Prof. Shinya Yamanaka, another Nobel Laureate, added, "Through international collaboration, innovation in medicine advances hope and transforms lives worldwide. The launch of the Prix Galien Japan embodies this spirit."
The event is part of a series of Prix Galien events in Asia, including the upcoming Prix Galien India Awards Ceremony in New Delhi on March 18, 2027. The foundation aims to celebrate the leading figures and decision-makers in life sciences.
Established in Paris in 1970, the Prix Galien Foundation is recognized for its role in fostering, recognizing, and rewarding excellence in scientific innovation to improve human health. The Prix Galien operates through 18 chapters spanning over 75 countries in Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Europe. The foundation's expansion into China, Singapore, and Australia is currently underway.
The inaugural Prix Galien Bridges Forum and Awards Ceremony, held in 2025, spanned Northern and Southern Europe, Israel, and the Middle East. Additionally, the first Prix Galien USA Patient Summit was organized, reinforcing the foundation's commitment to science without borders.
