Portugal Pathways, the organizer of the Portugal Investment Forum, has brought together a diverse group of business leaders, investors, and entrepreneurs to discuss the future of Portugal’s economy. The nine-day event, which concluded on October 9, attracted more than 300 influential guests, including over 150 investors and family offices.
The forum, held across five venues in the Algarve, Lisbon, Estoril, and Porto, featured 15 carefully curated panel sessions, each followed by an expert round-table clinic. These sessions aimed to address the key questions driving Portugal’s economic trajectory, such as what is driving growth, who is investing, and which emerging sectors hold the most promise.
Rogério Fernandes Ferreira, founder of RFF Lawyers and former Secretary of State for Fiscal Affairs, emphasized the importance of confidence, clarity, and predictability in attracting investment.
Among the attendees was Sílvia Mota, CEO at MEXT, chairwoman and CEO at Emerge, and co-founder of Moon Capital, who contributed her insights to the discussions.
The event also featured Portugal’s big-wave surfer Hugo Vau, an ambassador to the Portugal Investment Owners Club. Vau, known for riding the largest wave ever surfed, an estimated 35-metre giant at Nazaré in 2018, emphasized the importance of collective energy and determination in ensuring Portugal’s continued economic success.
The forum provided a platform for entrepreneurs, fund managers, trade body leaders, and senior figures in Portuguese business to engage in discussions on various topics, including administrative delays, retaining talent, and addressing concerns over housing.
The findings and contents of the forum will be shared in a series of reports and media releases over the coming weeks. These will include video recordings of the 15 panel sessions and more than 100 interviews from those attending. The reports will be available through Portugal Pathways and the Portugal Investment Owners Club.
In addition, the organizers announced the staging of the inaugural Portugal Investment Summit for next year. This event will bring together over 1,000 institutional and sophisticated investors along with other key players from across the world to take Portugal’s progress to the next level. Further details will be released in due course.
